Aloha my dear Brothers and Sisters,
This week's message is the last part of my 3 part message to our ward. As each of us face our own opposition and tests in our lives, it is important to have the perspective that these types of challenges, are a part of God's Earthly and Eternal plan for us which enables us to gain experience, to learn and to grow. As we search for answers, let us lean towards God and not rely solely man's understanding. Let us view our existence and worth through the lens of our loving Heavenly Father. Let your faith cast out doubt, worry, and fear. Establish a place of solace. Follow the example our prophet, Joseph Smith, and find your own Sacred Grove, where you can go to the Lord to converse with him and receive answers to your heart's concerns. This can elevate your spirit to a happier and healthy state.
Part III: Find Your Sacred Grove
It was in a grove of towering oaks, maples, and other trees, in the hometown of Palmyra, New York, where 14-year-old Joseph Smith saw in vision God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ in answer to his humble prayer. While we may not have that exact kind of environment that he had, where we live, we can still establish a peaceful sanctuary of our own, and you can "find your own Sacred Grove". A place where you can separate yourself from the hustle and bustle of your busy day. This spot may be at the pinnacle of your favorite hike, or a little resting spot on your favorite beach, or it may simply be on your back porch or the side of your bed. If you don't have a spot, seek one out. Find for yourself a place of escape where you can be positioned to truly feel the Spirit of the Lord. A place where you can seek forgiveness, cleansing, peace, hope, and answers through personal revelation from our Heavenly Father. As the towering trees of the Sacred Grove reach towards the sun, may we all go towards the light as well, and in so doing, to go toward God and His Son, and strive to become more like them. Our Savior Jesus Christ said, “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” (John 8:12).
With Love, Bishop Tano
