Aloha Kahalu’u Ward,
Last Sunday, my family attended a missionary farewell for one of our friends sons. He is called to serve in the Auckland New Zealand mission. This young man had just graduated from HS this year.
Listening to his talk, I was so impressed how he expressed his love for the Savior and His gospel. At such a young age, he sounded so enthused and so ready to go! You could just feel his energy. I believe he would skip the MTC part if he had the choice to and just head straight for the battlefield!!
He quoted favorite General Conference talks and scriptures that helped guide his decision to go. He then took the time to give us a little glimpse of his relationship with his family - His biggest motivation. What a beautiful relationship they have. He made us laugh. He made some of us fight back tears. He diffidently strengthened my testimony. There was no doubt he loved his family, and his family absolutely loved him.
I have a firm testimony of raising our families the way the church counsels us to. NO DOUBT!! With the attack on the family unit these days from the world, it is vital that we as parents go on our knees everyday and seek guidance. Yes! EVERYDAY!!!
Talk often to our children, counsel them, make sure we compliment them, encourage them, go out with them, have dinner with them, bless them and laugh with them. Because if we don’t, the world will!
