Aloha my dear Brothers and Sisters,
Last month I had the opportunity to attend Bishops Council with all of the bishoprics of the Kaneohe Stake. One of the topics of discussion was how do we help the young men of our wards to prepare for a mission?
After discussion, some of the ideas we discussed included:
1. Encouraging parents to begin at a young age, to teach their boys about missionary service when they come of age.
2. Encouraging parents to make sure their youth participate in weekly activities and
Sunday Priesthood meetings.
President Nelson began April 2022 conference by saying “Today I reaffirm strongly that the Lord has asked every worthy, able young man to prepare for and serve a mission. For Latter-day Saint young men, missionary service is a priesthood responsibility.”
President Ballard spoke next and focused on missionary responsibility of Priesthood young men as well by saying “The expectation has not changed”… “that every man should … lift a warning voice unto the inhabitants of the earth.”
As members we should also do our part by supporting the full time missionaries in the ward as they support us in our responsibility as member missionaries."
