Kahalu'u Ward Message 7/16/23

Aloha Kahaluu Ward

In Alma 32:27 it reads:

27 But behold, if ye will awake and arouse your faculties, even to an experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if ye can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe in a manner that ye can give place for a portion of my words.

I’ve come to realize that this life is simply an experiment on the effects of the word of God on our lives, on our families, our communities, societies, nations and world at large.

A small and simple way this experiment has worked in my life recently involves helping my children apply this experiment in their own lives by helping them “stand in holy places.” The youth today are constantly under attack and bombarded by philosophies designed to lure them away into mists of darkness.

I have seen so many blessing come from surrounding my children with positive, Christ-centered role models, interactions and activities that enlighten their minds and hearts, helping them to be able to dispel the mists of darkness that are trying so very hard to settle in around them. I have seen that despite their premature objections, at times, when I make their church activities or attendance a priority, their involvement is always beneficial, uplifting and testimony strengthening. With the world in constant objection to righteousness, any uplifting opportunity we can provide for our children should be considered priceless fuel in their lamps. In the parable of the five virgins, I believe that those five who were prepared when the bride groom came, were probably taught these important principles in their youth. Loving and wise family members likely took the time to explain the importance of diligent preparation and the joyous anticipation of all that could be looked forward to by being able to attend that special event.

I am grateful for this church, and for the inspired leadership and revelation we receive on how to best protect and prepare our families in these latter days.

I know that as we do our best to experiment upon the word of God and apply his teachings in our lives that he can and will help us gain greater light and knowledge to fuel us spiritually, strengthen our home and families and be prepared for his return.

Much love,

Sister Ka’iulani Lau
