Aloha Kahaluu Ward
A shoutout to our KUPUNA’s! Every Sunday at church, whenever I stop by and acknowledge our KUPUNA’s, they always put a smile on my face. They either repeat the same joke, or they’re venting about getting older. Hehe. Gotta love them.
Through their physical challenges, they continue to come to church. Still showing me how much they value partaking of the Lords sacrament. What a powerful example.
Though most of them do not hold callings in the ward, their lives bear a solid testimony of their continuous faith in Christ. Enduring to the end!!
Elder Robert L Blackman of the Seventy once said, “There’s no retirement in the service of the Lord. We believe in eternal progression.”
Just this past Wednesday, we celebrated grandma Mary Chuns 102nd birthday.
Struggling with all the challenges that come with old age, and of course the loneliness since the long departure of her eternal companion, she still cracks jokes with us and makes funny faces at the great grandchildren. At times, when I’m alone with her, she would give me words of encouragement on my marriage and family life.
President Boyd K Packer counseled, “Value the old folks for what they are; not just for what they can do.”
To the KUPUNA’s of our ward - those who have passed on and those who are still here - THANK YOU & MAHALO for all you’ve done, and all that you continue to do for us.
I hope and pray that we continue to leave behind this legacy of faith, as you have done for us.
We truly appreciate you, we miss you, and love you.
