Kahalu'u Ward Message 7/14/24

Aloha Kahalu’u Ward,

Just before the Savior carried out the Atonement, He prayed for His disciples, whom He had sent into the world to teach the gospel. He also prayed for those who would believe in Him because of His disciples’ words. He pleaded for unity: “That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.” Imagine being there to listen to His prayer.  Being able to hear the desires of the Savior’s heart in that moment.  Thanks to the scriptures, we have this documented for us in our day.  We can learn just how important the idea of unity is from his plead in his prayer.  The gospel unites us with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ… and with each other. When we live the gospel, receiving the saving ordinances and keeping our covenants, our natures are changed. The Savior’s Atonement sanctifies us, and we can live in unity, enjoying peace in this life and preparing to dwell with the Father and His Son forever.

This summer has been one where I have seen our unity as a ward grow stronger.  Between YM High Adventure, YW Girls Camp, Ward Camp, FSY, HS Graduation Celebrations, Baby Showers, Compassion Service Renderings, Ward Meetings, and Ministering efforts, all of these opportunities have given us a chance to grow closer in gospel unity and strength.  I know that where you go, that your light shines brightly to those around you, and that you give others a chance to feel of Jesus Christ's love through you.  This is a realization of the wishes of the Savior’s prayer.

As it says in Mosiah 18:21, our hearts are “knit together in unity and in love one towards another.” Our Heavenly Father loves you.  Jesus Christ loves you.  Our Kahalu’u Ward loves you.

My thoughts and prayers are always with you.

Love,

Bishop Tano
