Aloha Kahalu’u Ward,
2 Timothy 3: 1-7
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
It feels like the end of times. Turning on the TV, going to the movies, surfing the web, watching the news, reading newspapers or magazines, you come across opinions of extreme points of views. Those with a voice and a platform shouting what should and shouldn’t be. Criminals and mobs terrorizing our communities, with no consequences. Victims defending themselves turned into the criminals. It’s a scary world we live in.
Without the knowledge of Gods love and His Plan of Salvation, it might seem hopeless. The Lord sent His only Begotten Son to atone for the sins of the world. Through Christ sacrifice, striving to keep the Commandments, repentance, and always moving forward with an eye single to God, we know that the Lord will bless and protect us.
Matthew 24:13
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
I try to be positive and upbeat at work. I work long hours and by the end of the day, staying positive get a little harder. A couple weeks ago I had some down time at Delta and was looking through pics on my phone. I was able to revisit trips and events going back a bunch of years. It brought a warm sense of love and happiness. Almost all the pics were of my family. It was a nice little pick me up after a long 15hr shift. Later, right before it was closing time, a bunch of us were sitting around talking story and one of my coworkers said, “Eh, why you always so happy?” I laughed and told the I’d been looking at pics of my family trips. It launched a big discussion about families and how they are our safe places and support. It was nice to hear stories about fun experiences and how all of my coworkers cherished and knew that family was one of the most important things to them.
Sorry for the ramble. In these trying times, turning to our families will help support us. This includes our ward family. The family unit is so important to the Lord, He gave us the family proclamation. The family is ordained of God. I know that through strengthening our families through the Gospel, we will have a safe place to fall back on in these end of times.
Aloha,
Ammon Kaonohi 2nd Counselor, Kahalu'u Ward
