First off Happy Mother's Day!
This week I was inspired to talk about trials and overcoming adversity. In our lives we will always find ourselves facing certain trials and we may ask ourselves why we have to go through such hard things. In the October 2021 General Conference Elder Quintin L. Cook talked about going through the refiners fire and how when we go through adversity we have the opportunity to grow our testimonies if we put our faith in the lord. When I thought of adversity I couldn’t help but think about Joseph Smith and the trials he faced while helping restore the gospel of Jesus Christ. In Joseph’s most trialing moments the lord told him “My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment; and then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high.” With the lord with us in these dark times we can overcome adversity Joseph smith said “I am going like a lamb to the slaughter; but I am calm as a summer's morning” If we can put our full faith in the lord and endure these trials which are but a small moment I know that the lord will bless us, I testify of these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
