Kahalu'u Ward Message 4/7/24

Updated: Apr 20

Aloha Kahalu’u Ohana,

Hope this message finds you all in good health and ready for General Conference.

As we prepare ourselves going into General Conference this week, I remember reading Mosiah 2. This was when King Benjamin was getting ready to address the people.

Verses 5–8 talks about the people gathering with their families, pitching their tents, facing them towards the temple and preparing to hear the word. Whether they were excited, or anxious, or just in need to hear words of comfort, they attended!

For my family, every General Conference weekend has been an event! Always excited for it. From the week before, we’d plan out our menu for breakfast and lunch. Some of our favorite foods. Crepes with all the fixings, homemade syrup, homemade whipped cream, hot chocolate or koko Samoa for me, ribeye steak, poke…just so good. Then we’d bring out our pillows and blankets and spread out in the living room and just watch General Conference. Kanak-Attack sometimes, but hey…we were present!

As parents, it is a blessing to have the family together to hear the leaders counsel us. Watching our children take notes from talks given. Thoughts that provided comfort or encouragement. Then ending our Sunday by sharing what stood out most for us from this Conference.

We’re excited to do the same this weekend. Hopefully yours is too. May we listen with our hearts, and obey with our actions, and feel the joy that comes from listening to these Special Witnesses.

See you at breakfast!!

Joe Fano

Missionary Corner

Our area has been slowly building. We've been seeing alot of miracles this week especially for Easter. We received this one referral from the sisters and he came to church. The crazy part is that he pretty much already knows a good amount and wants to be baptized. It's looking really good and so that's really exciting.

Other than that we keep running into these really bold bible bashers. I've never met so many people who just out rightly say, "You are preaching heresy." It's really funny because they just come out of no where. We were walking in the park and this guy literally spawns out of the bushes.

I've officially hit the six months left mark. I don't even know what to think. It's exciting yet scary. I don't know if I'm ready.

I just wanted to testify that this work, God's work is the happiest work that we can do. There's many ways to do this work, but for me right now it is the full time mission. I've met alot of missionaries who say that the only joy they find is pday. I have experienced so much joy in seeing the Holy Ghost take over in a lesson and truly touch the hearts of those we've taught. It's amazing to see the joy that this Gospel brings in my life and the life of others. As I've served I've seen such a great change in my nature and soul, I am so grateful.

Love,

Elder Kaonohi
