Aloha Kahalu’u Ward Ohana,
I can’t believe we are already in February!? How are those New Year’s goals holding up? I’m always fascinated and frustrated, by how I can be totally hardcore about some goals, yet struggle to stay consistent with others for more than two weeks!?
Whenever I feel like my small habits aren't making a difference, I think of a line from James Clear’s book, Atomic Habits:
“Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become.”
Sometimes, when I look at the vastness of the world, I feel like a tiny grain of sand. I ask myself, "Do my small actions even matter? Why keep trying when I'm so far from perfect?" That is where Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin’s words bring me so much peace. He taught:
"Perseverance is a positive, active characteristic. It is not idly, passively waiting and hoping for some good thing to happen... the righteous suffer no failure except in giving up and no longer trying."
What a relief! This means that even in my 50s, every morning I wake up is a fresh chance to "cast a vote" for my best self. As long as I am waking up and trying again, I am not failing. I invite us all to stop waiting for a "big" moment to change. Instead, let’s focus on the small, daily votes—the quiet acts of kindness, the extra minute of prayer, and the compassion we show to ourselves when we stumble. I know that as we work on & improve ourselves, we become more capable of lifting our neighbors. As we do this collectively as a Ward Ohana, we will see the Lord's hand in our lives. I have a firm testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His role as our Savior. I love Him, and I love you all.
In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

MONTHLY FAMILY MESSAGE

RESPONDING TO CHALLENGES IN MARRIAGE
All married couples will experience challenges.
Husbands and wives can work through any challenge if they view marriage as a covenant relationship.
When challenges arise, we can choose to respond with patience and love rather than frustration or anger.
Make a commitment to respond to challenges patiently and lovingly rather than angrily. Decide on something you can do that will frequently remind you of this commitment.
We learn in the proclamation on the family that "the family is central to the Creator's plan" and that "husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other" and a "sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness".
MISSIONARY CORNER
Hey Everyone, it's been a little minute since I've sent an email. My bad imma try to be better at it this transfer! But so far this transfer has been pretty crazy! There is a lot going on in the FTM!
Updates:
- I am on my third Transfer in Albany! I love it here and the ward is still so awesome! We still hear a gun shot here and there but that's what continues to make the experience so so fun!
- New Companion!! Elder Clark is a dawg, He's from Oregon and has been on his mission for about 6 months.
- First Transfer as a District Leader! I was definitely not expecting to do this so early on but I love my district and they have all made these experiences awesome.
- Snow Dayyyy! Last Sunday it snowed in Albany Georgiaa!!! It was my first time experiencing snow and it was so so fun! It was sad that the Church was canceled but we were able to have a lit snow ball fight with the Spanish elders! Ohh year there's also spanish elders in Albany.
- Tally Tripp! This past week we were able to go to Tallahassee twice this past week. On Thursday we ended up having a Zone conference! It was so good to see everyone and I was able to sing in the zone conference! We also ended up going to Tallahassee on Saturday to take Indy to the temple for the first time! It was such an awesome experience and it was awesome to get that reset in the temple. CANNNNESSSSS!!! Both times that we went to canes we had to get Canes!
- 4 months as a missionary! What as crazy Journey it has been here in Albany! I have learned so much since I've been on my mission. There has been a bunch of ups and downs but I am so excited to see what left is in store for me.
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT!
" Whatever questions or problems you have, the answer is always found in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Learn more about His Atonement, His love, His mercy, His doctrine, and His restored gospel of healing and progression. Turn to Him! Follow Him"
-President Nelson
I love you all and hope yall all continue to be amazing!
