Aloha Kahalu’u Ward!!
I remember one time just sharing with Bishop Tano some of the minor challenges that I’ve come across in life recently. Just to talk story with him. Small struggles here and there. But struggles are still struggles. Big or small…they somewhat, at times, can be uncomfortable. Sometimes to the point where I just take a deep breath and say to myself, “well, I guess this is my next test.”
And I remember Bishop telling me, “We just gotta stay busy and keep going forward.”
That stayed with me. I gave it some thought. It was a simple good friend to friend conversation.
For me, it wasn’t just to stay busy doing any-kine. But I felt spiritually lifted when I stayed busy “going about my Fathers business.” I’m trying to spend more time with my family. Holding more meaningful conversations with my kids. Not just hi’s and bye’s. Visiting my ministering families and hearing their stories. Physically being there has been pretty fun actually. You find out so much more about them.
Staying busy with the youth by just simply spending time with them. Hearing them talk about their sports, their week or career paths they want to pursue in the future. They’re growing up so fast!!
Spending more time with my parents who are older and facing health challenges. They too, have aged so quickly. I cherish my time with them now more than ever.
Staying busy with guidance of the spirit, hasn’t made my challenges disappear. But He has helped me with patience and courage to hang in there just a little longer. Staying busy with the guidance of the spirit has comforted me to remember that I don’t stand alone.
May we “stay busy”in things that will uplift us to keep moving forward spiritually.
Sincerely,
Brother Joe Fano
1st Councselor, Bishopric Kahaluʻu Ward
