I’ve had bouts of vertigo. Vertigo is an inner-ear problem. These bouts are horrible to endure. The room spins and causes nausea. The spinning and nausea can last a few hours or many, many hours. On one occasion I awoke in the morning to the room spinning and the nausea. I had a meeting with the Board of Directors at work that day, and to miss the meeting even for a good and bona fide reason cast you in a negative light with the Board. I prayed to Heavenly Father to take the vertigo away; to please take this vertigo away. I got a message in a little while, from work, that the Board Meeting had been canceled. Amidst my misery, I thought, “very funny Heavenly Father.” I would have preferred the vertigo to have been banished. So, I suffered for the rest of that day with vertigo, but did feel good about not having to deal with the fallout from missing the Board Meeting.
Elder Brooke P. Hales of the Seventy said: The Father is aware of us, knows our needs, and will help us perfectly. Sometimes that help is given in the very moment or at least soon after we ask for divine help. Sometimes our most earnest and worthy desires are not answered in the way we hope, but we find that God has greater blessings in store. [2019]
