Kahalu'u Ward Message 10/9/22

Aloha Kahalu'u Ward,

I was grateful for the chance to watch General Conference this past weekend and hear the messages shared by the general authorities. Between soccer games, birthday parties, and the general chaos of small children running around the house I didn’t get to sit down and listen to much of conference as it was broadcast live, but I did get the chance to go through and read several of the talks afterwards (mostly in thinking about what I might write in this message). As I did, a recurring theme stood out to me, which I thought Elder Uchdorff summed it up well in his talk:

If the Savior were standing here today, He would express His endless love for you, His complete confidence in you. He would tell you that you can do this. You can build a joyful, happy life because Jesus Christ is your strength. You can find confidence, peace, safety, happiness, and belonging now and eternally, because you will find all of it in Jesus Christ, in His gospel, and in His Church.

Over and over the general authorities seemed to be offering us their encouragement, urging us to be strong. President Nelson relayed his own encouragement through most of his talks. Elder Christofferson shared that we all have a place in this church through Christ. And President Eyring’s talk was even titled “The Legacy of Encouragement.” All messages of hope and positivity.

After reading through all of those talks (and others) I found that I did feel encouraged. In one way or another we all bear the burden of our hardships, in the past few years especially, but the words of the Apostles and Prophet are a continued source of encouragement and strength. If you didn’t get a chance to catch Conference live, go back and read their words. It will make you feel good!

I’m grateful to be able to attend church and be encouraged by your examples each Sunday. And I’m really looking forward to hearing from the primary children this coming Sunday in the primary program. They’re the best encouragement of all. Hope to see you all there.
