Aloha Kahalu'u Ward,
A few weeks ago before shoulder surgery I had an MRI procedure. An MRI is when you lie down on this table and the table goes all the way into this machine that takes pictures of the inside of your body. My doctor wanted to know just how bad the tear in my shoulder was. When you lie on the table you are given two things which I thought were contradictory; you are given both ear plugs and a set of headphones. Apparently it's really loud inside the machine, so they give you the earplugs to protect your hearing. But because it can be unpleasant they try to mask the sounds by playing music through the headphones...while you are wearing earplugs.
It made me think about how sometimes the spirit tries to whisper in a still small voice but the world is so loud around us, and sometimes we have our own personal things like our own opinion or ideas that we want to do, that muffle the opportunity for us to really hear the promptings of the Spirit.
We as Latter Day Saints really need to quiet the world and make ourselves available and ready to hear the promptings of the Holy Ghost so that we can strengthen our spirit and our testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ. I know that we are all a work in progress, but as long as we are willing to listen, the Holy Ghost will help us Hear Him.
