Kahalu'u Ward Message 2/19/23

Dear Kahaluu Ward,

Consider this when thinking about the challenges you face: "Therefore what will ye that I should prepare for you that ye may have light when ye are swallowed up in the depths of the sea?", are the words the Lord said to the Brother Of Jared from within the cloud. We are all familiar with this story in the Book of Ether. My question is why did the Brother of Jared go through all the trouble he went through to make 16 small, clear stones? Why didn't he just walk out into his driveway and grab the nearest pile of rocks to him and say "Lord, touch these and they will shine with light". Instead he went to an "exceedingly high" mountain and mined rock that he could molten into a clear, glass like substance. That is a lot of work! What are the glass stones the Lord is asking for you to prepare? We all have challenges and at times it may seem like the Lord has left us to our own devices to find our way out. I have a testimony that the Lord often waits for us to put in that work and struggle...work that the world would scoff at... before he reaches from the cloud and touches it with his finger. That hard work would appear to be nothing on its own. After all, have you ever seen 16 smalls stones light up on their own? Without the touch of the Master, it would be nothing. But the faith we show by doing all we can is what the Lord asks of us. For "...it is by grace we are saved, after all we can do." Fun Fact. According the Joseph Smith, The Brother of Jared's real name was Mohonri Moriancumer

Aloha,

McKay Mills, 1st Counselor Kahalu'u Ward Bishopric
