Aloha, Kahaluʻu Ward Family,

What an incredible month of spiritual feasting we have enjoyed throughout the month of April! First, with General Conference, hearing all the talks and messages from our General Authority leaders and, especially, our Prophet. And then our wonderful Ward Conference, where we received encouragement and messages from our Stake Leaders. And then, our Easter Sunday program last week where we were uplifted by the beautiful talks from our youth and Ward Leadership. And finally, TODAY, where we can listen and share our testimonies with each other as ward members. How blessed we are! It has truly been a month of encouragement and uplift for our souls as we listen and learn how to strengthen ourselves and then support each other through the trials, and joys, of mortality.

In his April 2020 Conference talk titled Hear Him, President Nelson encouraged us to hearken to the words we hear, and further explained that to hearken “means to listen with the intent to obey.”  In his most recent talk this past conference, Pres. Nelson urged us to increase in charity and in virtue, that our “confidence can truly wax strong in the presence of God, right now!” He then outlined some things we can do to increase in both those characteristics, including being peacemakers, and learning to let virtue “garnish our thoughts unceasingly.” Two specific pleas from our latter-day prophet to help us become more Christlike. As we listen to, watch, and read general conference messages [and messages from our Stake and local leaders], Elder Bednar counsels us to look for the doctrine taught, the invitations extended, and the blessings promised.

In Primary, the children sing, “Follow the prophet; he knows the way.” He does know the way! The prophet knows the way because he knows the Savior, who is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). Surely we must hearken, we must hear with intent to obey. I hope we can incorporate and apply all those things that the Spirit has whispered  to our souls this month, and I pray God will bless us all in our efforts to do so.

Talofa lava friends and fams !!

New week, new transfer, new sisters, new everything ... except my whole household and area lol but im stoked cause I've grown to love my area more and i really love my educated gewls as well.My spiritual thought comes from our MLC (mission leadership council). After dinner, President Reid had a tray of desserts and asked who wanted one. Naturally, everyone raised their hands. He handed on out and had our AP, Elder Fox, do 10 push ups to pay for the dessert. Then he did the same for the next person that took a dessert. At first, everyone was smiling and laughing. But eventually, Elder Fox had done so many push ups that he could barely pick himself off the floor. He struggled but obeyed everytime President told him to pay up. The room eventually got silent and extremely heavy. The lesson of the activity set into everyone's hearts. None of us enjoyed seeing Elder Fox struggle the way he did. President finished by saying that the atonement has been paid by the only person who could bear that burden. I am a witness that the atonement is not only real, but it WORKS. Sincerely applying it to your life can cause change in your nature and have eternal effects. I know that the words in Alma 7:11-13 are true. I know He suffered all pains and afflictions, mental, physical and spiritual. And i know then even when we may not be physically or mentally healed, the atonement allows us to remain spiritually whole.

Alofas,

Sister Fano <3
