Dear Kahalu'u Ward,
When I was 12, I left Hawaii Island to attend Kamehameha Schools. During the six years of being a Boarder without my parents, I created friendships that made leaving home much easier. Fast forward 24 years later, & these same friendships continue to guide me through the joys & challenges of motherhood. We share funny memes to keep each other sane & provide the same safe haven that I cherished during my middle/high school years.
Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “The only way to have a friend is to be one.” And one of the finest presents you can give anyone is your best self. Elder Marvin J. Ashton of the Council of the Twelve shared “It is well for us to be reminded that we are friends to ourselves when we keep our lives unspotted from the sins of the world and leave ourselves better tomorrow than we are today. It is a WORTHY DAILY GOAL to be a true friend to one’s self.”
Now that I have kids of my own, I’m continually praying that they learn the irreplaceable value of being a true friend and recognize the friendship they share with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. As you go through your week, I challenge you to evaluate your friendships and make it a goal to strengthen them:)
Na’u me ka ha’aha’a,
Sis. Kyra Chun

Talofa lava friends and fams !!
Howzit howzit, it's been super fun lately. Just here to give a quick update. Also, time is freaking me out cause it's literally getting closer and closer but I'm gonna keep saying it more and more as the weeks go bye anyways lessgoooo
My spiritual thought comes from a training we did for the new trainers a couple weeks ago. My mom sent Elder Utchdorf's talk from April 2009 where he shares the story of Nehemiah. As Nehemiah was rebuilding the city of Jerusalem, he face much trials and opposition. Everytime he was put in a situation that tested him he responded, "I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down.” Let us remember that we are striving to be back UP with the Lord. We are doing a great work and cannot be brought down by the Adversary, trials, or temptations. I know that with that powerful response, we will be able to overcome that which would lead us astray.
