Aloha Kahalu’u Ohana,

I am grateful to be able to share a spiritual message with all of you this week!

About 14 years ago, while waiting with my young family at the finish line of the Honolulu marathon, my wife’s phone kept getting calls from an unknown number from Las Vegas. When Mahele crossed the finish line & called the number back, it was the Las Vegas medical center telling her that her mom, my mother-in-law (MIL) had a stroke & needed someone to come right away.

We rushed home to our Alewa Heights home, and as we drove up the hill, we noticed water coming down the road from our home. As we pulled into our garage, water was pouring out from under the kitchen door… our entire house was flooded from a broken shut off valve in one of our bathrooms!?

Regardless of the flooding, we got Mahele on the plane to Vegas that night, & my 5 kids & I started the long task of drying out our home.  At that time my thoughts turned to the D&C scripture from Section 121:7-8 where it says:

“7 My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment;

8 And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes.”

My MIL just passed away after needing constant care after all these years. My oldest daughter has been battling cancer for the last 9 months, & life still continues to give us challenges daily. I am blessed to know that we have a loving Heavenly Father, and that together with our loved ones & our ward Ohana, we will be “exalted on high” one day as we “endure it well” TOGETHER.

Please know that the Kahaluu ward Elder’s Quorum presidency stands ready & willing to help. Please let us know if there’s anything we can do for you & your Ohana.

Have an amazing week ahead!

Missionary Corner

Well I got transferred to Vernon. There isn't as many people being taught here as there was in Spring Valley. We are teaching a guy who is in a recovery center tight now he really wants to be baptized tho so that is great. We are going to start trying to do a youth night in our ward which should be lots of fun. That's it I guess.

Elder Candari,
