Aloha Kahalu’u Ward,

This past Wednesday, our Relief Society hosted a wonderful Chinese New Year activity which unlike most RS Socials, this one included members from the whole ward with an open invitation to friends as well.  There were so many wonderful things planned, from good food (btw who made the pork bittermelon? yummmmm), to family history displays, cultural games, a dragon dance performed by our Primary children, and even a fun mimic of Chinese fireworks using bubble wrap to recreate the popping sounds! This gathering was especially memorable for me because of all the genuine smiles and happy faces that I noticed throughout the night.  Young or old, male or female, nationalities of all types, we all came together as one blended family and shared a moment of joy! In a 2022 April General Conference talk, Elder Gerrit W. Gong said,

“We each have a story. As we discover our story, we connect, we belong, we become.” In this age of “I choose me,” societies benefit when generations connect in meaningful ways. We need roots to have wings—real relationships, meaningful service, life beyond fleeting social media veneers. God wants our families to be happy and forever. Forever is too long if we make each other unhappy. Happy is too short if cherished relationships stop with this life. Through sacred covenants, Jesus Christ offers His love, power, and grace to us"

Thank you Kahalu’u Ward for being so loving and supportive of one another, as we intertwining our lives together.

Love,

Bishop Tano

Kahalu'u Ward

Missionary Corner

This week ive really been focusing on the Christlike attribute of patience. Specifically trusting in the Lords timing. Out on the mission patience is HUGE; patience with your soa, the language, the work and many other things become very evident. Having faith in God includes faith in his timing. Patience doesnt mean waiting, patience includes doing all that you can while you "wait" it is an action word. Another part of patience that im specifically workiny on is patience when things dont go my way. Preach my gospel talks about this "Patience also means that when something cannot be changed, you come to accept it with courage, grace, and faith." It can be hard when things dont go the way we want them to but as Elder Tuitele would say "Everything happens for a reason" so its okay when bad things happen use it to make yourself better. I truly invite you all to study patience, it is my belief that if everyone was a little more patient the world would be whole lot better.Alofas,

Elder Fano
