Aloha Kahalu’u Ohana,
In the Doctrine and Covenants Section 3 we read about the prophet Joseph Smith giving into Martin Harris’s request to show 116 pages of the manuscript to his wife. As we know those 116 pages were lost and would never be recovered. The prophet Joseph Smith would learn a most valuable lesson. It’s not always easy to be able to stand up to the pressures of the world, we are bombarded through advertisements on TV, magazines, movies, the internet, and especially social media.
When Joseph Smith had realized that the 116 pages were lost, he knew right away that he had tempted God and felt as though all would be lost. Many times, when we have transgressed, we too can feel as though all is lost. Repentance and redemption seem unobtainable when one knows they have gone against the will of the Lord. But the will of the Lord will not be obstructed. When we turn our lives and faith over to the Lord, he will always provide a way for our forgiveness and for his works to be accomplished.
Joseph Smith would realize that a path, through divine planning, had been provided to overcome the loss of the 116 pages. The Lord has greater vision than we could ever imagine,…”for my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord”…so when we feel as though all is lost, if we have faith in the Lord that’s when he shines a light in the dark to show us the way back to him.
I pray that we may all do our best to always put our faith in the Lord especially when we have transgressed or we are at our lowest, he is waiting with his arms open to bring us back to him, in Jesus name Amen.
Mahalo,
Bro. Jeff Tom
