Aloha and Mele Kalimaka, Kahalu’u Ward ohana!

As your newly assigned high councilor, I’m excited to get to know and support your amazing ward, but first I’d like to introduce myself.  My name is Ryan Gutzwiller, and I go by “Gutz” (even my wife, Laura, calls me “Gutz”!).  My family is a Marine Corps family, and earlier this year I retired from the Corps after more than three decades of active service.  One of the blessings that came from that service was my family being stationed in Hawaii on four different occasions, starting back in 1995.  During those times, our family belonged to the Kailua 2d Ward, Kailua 3rd Ward, and Kaneohe 2d Ward.

In a General Conference talk, President Eyring once shared “All of us will be tested. And all of us need true friends to love us, to listen to us, to show us the way, and to testify of truth to us.”  Every time we’ve come back to Hawaii, we’ve lived in the Kaneohe Stake, and it's always felt like coming home.  Each time, we’ve looked forward to continuing our Hawaii friendships, as well as begin new ones.  Now we have the opportunity to both be a friend, and to be strengthened by friends, here in the Kaneohe Stake and Kahalu’u Ward, for the long term!

Semper Fidelis, Br. GutzStake High Councilman

Missionary Corner

Howzit family, friends and fellow missionaries

Mele Kelikimaka #LightTheWorld

Things I've learned from my mission:

- I know that God loves you and I

- I know the Atonement of Jesus Christ heals and gives us power to overcome

- I know that the Book of Mormon is true

- I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church

- I know covenants bond us to our Heavenly Father

- I know to not take things for granted

- I know that families can be together forever

My time as a full time missionary is coming to an end. Couldn't be more grateful for these past 2 years! All the friends and memories that I've made have been something I'll value forever.

Shoots, Elder Dano

Love ya
