Aloha Kahaluu Ohana,

This weekend we had a chance to witness the beautiful baptism of Miss Aizlee Freitas. It was such a wonderful reunion to see so many of the Weeks ohana come and support this sweet young girl as she entered the waters of baptism. I felt blessed to witness Aizlee be baptized by her great grandpa, Uncle Ed Weeks, with Uncle Bill, Aunty Diane and all of the Weeks ohana surrounding the baptismal font.

Earlier this month we were able to witness the baptism of Pa’a Kahalepuna, and the room was filled with our Kahalepuna & Soon Ohana showing love and support for him on his special day.

It was a gentle reminder to me that as a ward ohana we need to continually surround our ward members, new and seasoned, as well and friends and family with the same love and support, as we all learn and grow together in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Staying on the covenant path can be tough, and we all make mistakes. But if we continue to humble ourselves, seek forgiveness from our Heavenly Father, and surround ourselves with loving and supportive people who encourage us to choose the right, it will help all of us to stay on the path that will lead us back to our loving Heavenly Father.

Aloha,

Melanie Afualo

RS President, Kahalu'u Ward

Missionary Corner

Howzit family, friends and fellow missionaries

Crazy to think that on Wednesday I enter my last transfer. Unfortunately it does come to an end

This week was a huge rebound week for the brethren and after some encouraging words for my awesome mission president.  We're refocused and sprinting till the end and leaving no room for regrets. The 4th quarter or last period really shows your true character. Let's go win each day! #TeamJesus

Weekly highlights:

- Our friend Elyse who had her family shun her for even considering coming to church with us is continuing to be such a blessing. We met with her multiple times this week and she's always asking what the next chapter for her to read. She also told me her son plays football at the University of Hawai'i and wants me to go teach her son when I get back home. Big blessings

- We had a huge scare this week with our friend Jim. We were informed he had a stroke and he was only given a 12% chance of living so we dropped everything and went to go visit. He's still pushing through and he's one tough old man.

- We've had a ton of success this week with progressing our friends further along the path and especially with our friend Alicia and her daughter Ella. They're reading the Book of Mormon stories book together for Ella's bedtime routine. Spiritual Thought: Omni 1:26

26 And now, my beloved brethren, I would that ye should come unto Christ, who is the Holy One of Israel, and partake of his salvation, and the power of his redemption. Yea, come unto him, and offer your whole souls as an offering unto him, and continue in fasting and praying, and endure to the end; and as the Lord liveth ye will be saved. When I read that this week the part of "offer your whole soul" stuck out to me and reminded me that I need to leave everything on the altar and get to work. Let's go. Yessah

I appreciate you all. Love ya

Shoots, Elder Dano
