Kahalu'u Ward Message 7/21/24

Aloha Kahalu’u Ohana!!

I absolutely enjoyed the testimonies from our youth last week Sunday. Despite just being told that morning, that they were the program for that day, they said YES. They’ll just do it. As they bore their testimonies, they made us laugh, they made some of us cry, and probably made some of us think. These precious young ones spoke with inspiration that day. Sitting behind them, listening to them, one after another, just coming up and declaring their dedication to being a disciple of Christ, my heart was so full.

One of the General Authorities said, “We’re not preparing them to become leaders for tomorrow; we’re preparing them to become leaders TODAY!!” So awesome!! But I strongly believe, that a huge part of this preparation begins with their gatherings. Gathering in their families for prayers, family home evenings, family councils, Come Follow Me discussions…all inspired by the gospel of Jesus Christ. Gathering every Sunday at church with each other in their classes. Gathering every week for their mutual activities or service projects. Gathering together to go do temple baptisms. Gathering together to attend programs like For the Strength of Youth (FSY). Now, some of them are gathering just to be together. When our youth said on Sunday, “It was life changing…”, more than once, it was because they chose Jesus Christ. He is the GAME CHANGER!!

Thank you Kahalu’u Ohana for always sending your awesome children out. Keep them coming. And have them bring a friend. This Army of Helaman will never stop growing!! We take’em all!!

Aloha,

Brother Joe Fano

1st Counselor Kahalu’u Bishopric

Aloha Kahalu'u Ward, this is Bishop Tano. A few weeks ago, I had a wonderful text exchange with Sis. Graham. I would like to share a small excerpt below.

[Sis. Graham Quote] When I allow myself to think about going home, I'm filled with excitement!

We came to serve because of a deep gratitude and love for our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ. He is central for all our hopes and joys. Can do because of Him.

I finally acted on the promptings to teach an English class for the Chinese women in my branch. Three women have been baptized out of my little class! Talk about astonished!  The members invited their friends and sometimes there were more friends than members! Amazing how the Lord works. Miracles everyday! [Close Quote]

Elder & Sister Graham are soon to be returning home from their honorable mission in Canada. It deeply saddens me to report that since the time of of this text message exchange with Sister Graham, she has since experienced a stroke that has left her with complete blindness. This occurred last week and I have been in steady contact with her. Sis. Graham is a fighter with a positive spirit, and has not let this impairment bring her down, however, I woud like to request the love and help of our Kahalu'u Ward ohana to participate in a special fast for her on Sunday July 28. I look forward to picking them up at the airport on August 1st.

Mahalo nui loa,

Bishop Tano
